Blekko launched in the fall 2010 (but been in the works for years) and the major web/tech publishers, like PC Mag, Wired, and New York Times, have made their introductions. The idea behind this search engine is to improve search results by being more relevant and killing the spam. The key to their search and company success is the use of real people, humans, so search results have a human touch.

This therefore gets internet users like me and you into the process. Use twitter to suggest sites they are missing, create some “/slashtags” of your own favorites, and use them. There are many slashtags like “/about” which I used to get the find out more link at the bottom of this article. Here is one type of example, in the search box type “Nickam /twitter”. This will recover any recent Nickam references in Twitter. Another example type is “Nicholas Cage /humor” to find humorous web stories about Nicholas Cage. Any other search engine would provide lots of useless websites not related to want you actually want. These are only 2 of 5 ways Blekko has improved the way to search the internet, find out more.
